Saving Time Answering Questions on POSTS.

January 5th, 2009
  • Hi All...

I was wondering what the status of the examples that are to be coming out? I know it was stated in a post that more examples are coming. My guess is that a lot of the questions on the forum wouldn't be asked if the examples for the 'hidden gems' were a bit more prevalent.

such as...a file upload example. I found that going through code in posts just leads me down a wrong path... often times the code doesn't work and that is why the users are posting in the first place.

Is Ext2.0 coming out before the examples for 1.1? Curious where in the priority chain it stands. Thank you : )

  • We could also save time if the wiki was completely filled out, there were more tutorials and screencasts, the API docs were completely perfect, etc. :((

Even the simplest examples have to be created, tested across many browsers and doc types (and base libs), and retested/maintained/upgraded with each new version of library. It may seem like it should be easy, but it is a huge task, and as more examples are added, the task gets that much huger (if that's a word?). Now, with that said, our goal is still to add a lot more examples as we go -- I'm just trying to lay down some perspective on why things like this do not happen overnight. Patience, young Jedi.

Oh, and by the way, maybe if everyone stopped asking so many questions on the forums, we actually would have time to make examples! (just kidding... ;))

  • Thanks for the response... That'd be great. You'll be saving me some headaches : )

  • ^^^ I (in particular) don't like to have to visit the site to get info, which is why i love the docbase + examples that come w/ the downloadable package :)

  • I need to strip it, so give me a little time ;)

  • No rush :)
