Weight Loss with Fat Burners
January 5th, 2009Most people want to lose weight. It's not just one of those fads that will fade away, more and more people are becoming conscious about the state of their body, but it can be difficult for them to achieve weight loss that provides the motivation to continue. Fat burners are designed to help weight loss by stimulating the body so that it burns off the fat reserves more quickly than would be possible through exercise alone.
Without motivation, many people start a diet that promises to deliver weight loss results only to find that the results are less encouraging than they had hoped, and therefore feel that it is a waste of time. The psychological effect of a fat burner is as important as the actual weight loss result that it delivers. After a time, there will be no more fat left to burn, at which point, the psychological motivation needs to replace the fat burners so that the weight does not pile back on.
So, although fat burners will provide an initial weight loss result, it is important to combine them with an exercise program because the effects of long term use of artificial stimulants is not advisable.
Having said all that, here are a few pointers to which fat burners are likely to work, and which don't. Starting with the miracle cure, any gel which claims to provide fat cutting should be viewed with scepticism. That's not to say that they don't work, because they do, but you do have to work quite hard to get rid of the extra fat that they release into the bloodstream, and you will still need to reduce calorie intake. No miracle; lifestyle changes will still be required.
For those who prefer to use diet pills, there are a plethora on the market. Some use caffeine to stimulate the body, others are based on the so-called ECA stack (containing ephedra, which has since been banned by the FDA). Yet more use chromium to suppress the natural appetite, either in conjunction with fat burners, or on its own.
Generally speaking, the more natural a product is, the less chances there are of side effects – chromium, for example, can lead to an irregular heart beat, and ephedra has also been linked with heart complaints.
Before rushing into the fat burner market, there are also diet pills which supplement a naturally occurring compound known as CLA. It is present in dairy products, but humans are unable to produce it, and it is very effective at reducing body fat, and even increase muscle. As a supplement, it can even be taken in conjunction with other fat burners, so long as the manufacturers recommendations are followed to the letter.
